Why corndogs?

Well, I did art for a lot of flyers and bands back in the day but when it came to my own band, our drummer found my artwork far too dark for our sound and the image he thought our band should have (what with all the skulls and demons I liked to draw).

Our drummer put up most of the money for our few recording sessions so I really wasn't in a position to argue. Hence the ridiculous Corndog based themes for our first 2 albums.

Corndogs were chosen as an inside joke, for a couple reasons - some of our band members were vegan/vegetarian and others weren't so we thought it was funny but it was also a tribute to The Minutemen who had a huge influence on us, especially our bassist Aron.

The Minutemen's song "History Lesson Part II" has this great lyric, (which, as a bunch of kids from a small town we really identified with) -

"We were fucking corndogs
We'd go drink and pogo"

Because we were never cool, we were a bunch of corndogs ourselves.

We recorded 3 albums - 2 were self released under the Little Willy Records name and the third was to be released on a label with a supporting tour but my mental issues and inability to take care of myself properly caused the tour to fall apart, the band to disband and the label to drop us. That was the end of Artless Motives as a band. It's still the name I use for my art etc. and have used it since high school but the punk rock band of that name is dead and gone.
